MESSAGE FROM the FOUNDER

Greetings,

I am Leonard Abbott, Founder and CEO of It’s Cool to Care, Inc. I hold a B.A. in Accounting from Randolph-Macon College and a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Utica University. I am also a licensed Med Tech and Certified Nursing Assistant in Georgia. I have over 15 years of diverse leadership and managerial experience in sales, finance, and operations. This experience includes being a General Manager of a $40 million retail store for Fortune 500 company Best Buy, to corporate multi-unit management supporting 17 multi-million dollar franchise locations as a Regional Business Advisor for SkyZone/Rockin' Jump trampoline parks, and conducting grant writing, managing budgets, operations, and volunteer pools of large community service initiatives. 

In 2013, I founded the non-profit healthcare organization One Change at a Time, which focuses on bringing youth volunteers together with older adults in long-term care through therapeutic recreational, educational, and intergenerational social health programs. I've served in long-term care at the Schaffer Extended Care Nursing Facility of Montefiore Hospital in New Rochelle, NY, the Dumont Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in New Rochelle, NY, and Manor Lake Assisted Living in Ellijay, GA, along with completing my Georgia Nurse Aide Training at the Atlanta Career Institute & field requirements at Pruitt Health skilled nursing facility in Lilburn, GA. I'm an experienced leader with years of serving older adults with physical disabilities, Alzheimer's, Dementia, and other health limitations.  

Many ask me what drove me to start It’s Cool to Care. My answer is simple: "God established a purpose in me to help those who can’t help themselves.” I appreciate the opportunity to help people overcome obstacles, improve their self-esteem, and achieve their goals. I am particularly passionate about helping older adults age gracefully and encouraging those with disabilities never to give up. Our goal is to develop a brand that rejuvenates service to seniors uniquely, encompassing social engagement and upliftment to improve the social illnesses that directly affect our physical and mental health as we age. 

At It’s Cool to Care, we consider those we serve as members versus clients or patients because we believe anyone under our care is a family member. We differentiate ourselves from others by utilizing our customizable service packages, intergenerational social approach, and cool, innovative personal home care techniques that uplift and improve the health outcomes of our members while providing their loved ones an opportunity to focus on personal endeavors, knowing their family member is in “Cool Hands.” We take a different approach by focusing on social health first to improve our members ' physical abilities and mental stability. We aim to improve the health disparities often affecting older individuals and those with disabilities by delivering safe, effective, and comfortable services.
